Records that Ancestry.Com have are still at county courthouses, Bureau of Vital Statistics and State Libraries etc all over the country. If a person wants to travel, spend money on gasoline, motel rooms, eating out,they can still find those records.

Oh your counties, can put vital records themselves on line but you will pay for it with your tax dollars.

Ancestry.Com has paid to have people to obtain the records and put them on line. This way a person knows where to write to get the documentation for their family history and it saves them costs.

Most of our ancestors were migratory at least through the 19th century and our knowing just exactly what county they lived in at a particular time in itself requires research, traveling great distances and going from county to county.

Quit yer bellyaching. Why should you expect them to do what they have done for free.

Nice try Shirley. However, you have missed the entire point of the article.

These were not records that Ancestry paid people to collect. These were the copyrighted articles of Genea-Bloggers.

I'm sure you'd bellyache if someone walked onto your patio and stole your lawn furniture.
